Inventory

We spent the afternoon/evening doing an inventory of the contents of the kit, which went much faster than I expected.  It’s pretty much done, except for chasing down a few parts that may not have made it into the kit.

Earlier today I almost killed myself, at least according to the MSDS contained along side the DMA (Dimethylaniline) promoter.  It claims that I should be dead by now.  It had spilled out of its vial, but while some of it had remained in the double bag around the vial, the rest had escaped into the box (and evaporated?) because nothing was wet.  The fumes when I opened up the promoters box – containing the cobalt and DMA – were extremely intense to say the least.

The DMA promoter didn't make it.

A couple other minor problems: A 2″ crease in one of the pieces of sheet metal, and a kink in one of the fuel lines.  I’m not sure how much fuel line we need, so maybe we can make do with a shorter piece.

Now it’s just tracking down the few items that we’re not sure made the journey.

Tow bar, bulkhead “A”, the engine mount and firewall blanket, and the instrument panel are tucked out of the way until they’re needed.

That's some serious welding!

Three HUGE crates!

Three huge crates arrived at the aptly named Pilot Freight terminal.  HUGE. CRATES. HUGE.

You can only see the largest two in the picture below, the “small” crate is hidden in between them.

Getting them home proved to be a two day affair.

Yesterday, I drove in to Boston and picked up the largest of the three crates and slid it into the garage we’ve converted to a workshop.  We decided that our real workshop, under Stacey’s hangar, while larger, has less headroom and isn’t as convenient for working after kids go to bed.

We had to peek inside…

Today I grabbed the “smaller” two…

Next step: Unpacking and inventory!
